The modern version of the fable “The Boy who Cried Wolf” has type of become “Brett Favre Retiring.” Brett Favre really has gone to practice with the Minnesota Vikings. The worm seems to have turned after some teammates visited him at home. The venerated quarterback who holds multitudes of NFL records for quarterbacks has not commented yet on whether he definitely will stick around for the season, but it appears that turning up to practice is a good sign he’ll play this season.
Brett Favre back in Minnesota
Brett Favre has showed up to practice ending months of intense speculation and debate. On Tuesday, Aug. 17, Brett Favre stepped off a plane, as outlined by ESPN, and went to practice with the Minnesota Vikings. Brett Favre didn’t need any stinking training camp last year. The Vikings lived up to their title, rampaging around the NFL and utterly destroyed a pathetic Dallas Cowboys squad within the first game of the post-season. Favre picked up an ankle injury within the heartbreaking loss to New Orleans within the NFC title game in overtime.
Teammates could have convinced him to return
Some of the other guys on the team may have spurred his decision. Three teammates of his from the Vikings headed down to Favre’s home in Hattiesburg, Miss., to get him back to practice. Lineman Steve Hutchinson, kicker Ryan Longwell and defensive end Jared Allen (owner of possibly one of the most famous mullet in the NFL) flew down to talk to Favre. They must have made quite the argument, because he flew back to Minnesota with them.
The only grandfather within the league to make a lot
Brett Favre stands to earn an additional $20 million this season, as outlined by USA Today. He will earn it though. The opening eight games consist of a match against the Green Bay Packers, and they are going to want revenge. QB Aaron Rodgers was statistically one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL last year, and to knock off the Vikings, especially with Favre at the helm, could be quite the feather in the Packers’ cap.
